About Kim Wilson In October 1993 I was introduced to motherhood when I gave birth to my son prematurely. Since his birth I have taken it upon myself to learn as much as possible about this unique type of parenting. I speak and correspond with several parents of preemies, mainly to hear their stories and help them through this difficult time by letting them know I've experienced the same roller coaster of emotions. Professionally I am the owner and founder of Preemie Parenting and a full-time nonfiction freelance writer covering the topics of parenting, law enforcement, the writing trade and health. My work has been featured in numerous publications, both online and off. In addition to my freelance assignments, I currently write the Prevent Teen Delinquency column at Parenting Today's Teen, a monthly column for Inscriptions Magazine, a bi-monthly column for Beside the Badge, and moderate two forums for Inkspot. Prior to becoming a full-time writer I worked in the medical and mental health profession. During this time I had the opportunity to assist in the delivery of three full-term babies, heightening my awareness of the differences between a premature birth and a forty-week gestational delivery. My husband George (a civilian police officer and an MP in the Army Reserves) and I currently reside in New Jersey. When I'm not writing I can be found reading, fishing, surfing the net and talking with other preemie parents and women experiencing complicated pregnancies.
